To cut the door or not? A tiling question
I am a complete stupid newbie with tiling, so forgive me if I sound really ridiculous. I live in Latvia and just moved into an old soviet style flat with some major flooring issues. I've ripped up the brown depressing worn out linoleum flooring to find not concreate but ply wood underneath. So, I went and got the ply wood ready tile setting mix and my tiles. But being an ultimate newbie I didn't check one thing - clearance for the door over the soon to be installed tiles.

So, there is not enough clearance. My question is this: which one is less insane - cutting the bottom of the door off and redoing the door trim or ripping up the ply wood and seeing what is under there?

Thanks for your time!

Cutting a door and raising the threshold is not to difficult. I would cut the door.

A picture would help.---Mike---

If it is a wooden door you can cut the door. If it is an exterior door you will have to put down a new theshold with a larger height.

Thanks for both replies!
The door leads into an apartment hallway and it turns out I wouldn't have to cut that much off the bottom. I'll just have to raise the threshold for draft a bit - which should also be entertaining to watch me try and figure out!

Thanks again

Buy a peice of wood the thickness that you need to clear the tile and a rug and cut it the width of the theshold. Then cut the door off the thickness of the peice of wood. Make sure and cut the same angle as the angle on the bottom of the door.
