Creaky Floor

I noticed yesterday in my dining room the floor (carpeted) now creaks--it creaks when you walk along what probably is one whole floor board. It never used to. Is this something that I should worry about? Any safety issues? It's a townhouse that was built in 1998.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks all.

Creaky Floor

Hi Jend,

You said the squeak is in "one whole floor board." To me that means your flooring is planks and not plywood sheets. Please confirm.

The wood is loose, it's creaking now because of weather changes. The wood is rubbing against another or a nail.

Lets us know which kind of flooring you have, it may be easy to repair.

Jaz
