Creaking Floorboard

What is usually recommended for creaky floorboards? I am starting to

notice it throughout the house these days. I don't think it was always like

that. What is the cause and how do I go about silencing the squeak?

Thanks.

The place is haunted - call Ghost Busters.:)

Actually do a search here. This just came up here in the past few days and some guy had a gizmo made fixing squeaky floors.

I'll see if I can find it.

you may come across a board which has been cut between two joists with the result that nothing is supporting the join. You will then have something to fix the loose end to with screws.

A easy way to fix the noise without doing alot of work.. Look for the gap in the join at the joists.. Use chalk from a chalk line marker and work chalk into gaps.. It acts like lube between the gaps and stops the noise... It's easy and fast.. Lasts a while also.
