Cracked cement board floor under laminate

I am about to install a laminate wood floor and I just pulled up the title and the existing carpet to see that the concrete floor board is pretty heavily cracked in places.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to do? Despite the cracks, the floor is fairly level. I had thought about covering the cracks with thin set, allowing ample time to dry and then laying the laminate floor on top. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on if the thin set idea is the best way to go?

go to www.substratesystem.com and buy ECB crack isolation membrane. They have kits & also 3'x50' rolls. It is an EASY self-adhering membrane that bonds directly to the substrate. You then can apply tile, stone, vct, wood, ect to the surface. You can do the whole floor or "strip application" which is when you just put it over the crack.

I had never heard of this product until a contractor told me to use it in my basement where I had cracks. It has been 2 years and no cracked tiles where the concrete was cracked! Honestly a great product! A+
