Costco Bamboo flooring

I just purchased a 1000sqft of Costco bamboo flooring. The manufacture recommends that you use a floor nailer with a 5/8 shoe. I have the Harbor Freight floor nailer which comes with a or ” shoe.
Could I use the 1/2 shoe on this flooring?

take the 1/2" shoe and make a shim 1/8" thick and put them both together. I think that is what we did but it has been a few years since we installed any of that floor.

No rent a ajustable engeneered flooring nailer, HD carries them. Bamboo is a hard floor to nail and you want to make sure the nail is sitting in the pocket. Good luck

Costco Bamboo

I agree that you need the correct nailer. Most problems I see with floor installations are due to people not using the correct nailer and/or following the installation instructions.

Regular bamboo is slightly softer than oak but the strand bamboo is very hard and typically needs an 18 gauge cleated nail.

I am assuming you have the traditional style though since you said it is 5/8" thick.

Good luck!
