Cork under cabinets?

Ok I am at the point in our kitchen Reno that we are ready for cabinets, we are going with cork floor on the slab-on-grade, should I lay the floor and put cabinets on top or install the cabinets and then lay the floor?

I would install the cork (up-to) the cabinet toe kicks. One day you will want to change the flooring and you won't want it under the cabinets - TRUST ME.

If he puts his cabinets directly onto the floor and then his cork upto it, without placing the cabinets on plywood. Won't the counter height be to low?

I realise that, I agree with not putting it under the cabinets. I was just curious if the counter height might be effected by not putting the cabinets on a substrate.

Something I always am thinking about because I am 6 feet tall and would hate to lose even a half of an inch.

1/4 or 1/2 won't affect counter-height use too much.

But for those who are worried about it - putting a solid substrate under the counter top helps ensure level and keeps it all on the same height.

Countertops are all a standard height of 36"+- unless they tie into a bar top arrangement which is a standard of 42"+- high. Do you think anyone in the entire cabinet industry gives a damn about a persons height or a persons comfort? No one cares, and no one seems to complain. A cabinet buried deep into a flooring modification (about 3/4" deeper than usual) really doesn't effect anyone adversely. Besides the taller people are at an advantage when it comes to conveniently reaching into the upper cabinets. One offsets the other.
