Convert Pantry to Laundry Room

So the title may seem self explanatory but it's a little more complicated then that.

My washer and dryer are in my unfinished basement. I would like to move them upstairs and convert my pantry into a laundry room.

Here is the catch though, my pantry is only 2 ft wide. The pantry is above the stairs that lead to the basement and there is a pretty big clearing from the top of the steps to the floor of the pantry so people hitting their heads is not an issue at all.

So here is what I'm assuming we need to do: cut out the drywall and studs along the kitchen wall and the inside wall of the pantry. Install the new/extended floor, put up a new wall and reframe, add doors, etc.

I have attached pictures.

My question is, is this fairly simple for two first time DIYers? Will it be costly? I'm not concered about the plumbing and electrical part of it, just the carpentry part of it.
