I am converting an old outhouse into a wet-room and putting a sauna and shower in it. Question is do I build a wooden floor or a concrete one?
The wooden floor has been recomended as it gives a good flat finish, some more insulation and I can easily locate the drainage from the shower. But I'd heard contrary advice that it will rot from beneath sooner or later, even if a damp proof layer is put over the ground and rubble where the floor is being laid, and the joists are also protected from damp.
So am I better with a concrete floor?
In either case I plan to put a heating mat down and then ceramic tiles on top of that.
