concrete lip. how to level with the rest of the floor?

Hi, I am converting my garage to a master and am trying to level the floor for the bedroom. There's a concrete lip when I removed the wall seperating the garage from the family room. the family room is lower.

Do I use concrete leveler and pour it through out the whole room
or
vapor barrier then lay down plywood?
or?

any suggestions?

thanks

Take an over all shot----Also---

How much pitch is there in the garage?

Can you add a thicker floor without compromising the ceiling height in the family room?

What will the finished floor be?

thanks for the reply.

the family room now master bedroom is full of materials so here's the best shot I can take with the high pad of concrete

the garage is no more and is now a master bath in progress.(the step up in the picture below.) The floor was built up but the master bedroom was not.

I can add a thicker floor but what would be best? the ceiling height is about 10 feet sloped down to 8.

master bedroom will be carpet.

Ply wood will fail, even with a vapor barrier---it will lift and bubble with time---

Self leveling compound will work---mix with sand if allowed by the maker---it's expensive stuff----

Using deck mud works,also---if the floor needs more than 3/4"----trowel down modified thinset and pack the deck mud on top of the wet thinset.

Go to the 'tile' section and look for "Mud what is it?" by Bud Cline----excellent explanation---(top of the tile section)
