Concrete leveler over tile? (Home Depot drama)

Trying to put a wood floor down over bathroom tile. Weird shaped room. Got the wood, everything, padding... installer came and said the floor dips too much. Up to 1.5 inches in a spot near the door.

So he said he wouldn't install the floor (it's a laminate thing, like a puzzle).

I got the stuff on sale from home depot. Good deal. Came with installation.

But the installer is a sub-contractor. Liable for the warranty. Won't do it, he says. Seemed to advise against leveling the floor as it would raise the threshold of the doorway an inch and a half.

So my question is one of practicality and legality:

Can I level the floor with cement (self leveler) over tile?

And if I do it, will the installer balk anyway leaving me with... all the flooring to return to Home Depot and an even uglier floor than what is already there?

Because that is the driving force: a triangular shaoed room with nice light which could be good for kids but for the dirty, deeply ugly white bathroom tile on the floor.

Any advice would be welcome.

Laminate in a bathroom with kids is a very bad choice for a floor covering---so the installer may have done you a favor---

None are warrantied for water damage----

Why not tile? If the old tile is still sound and was properly installed a new layer could be installed on top---The floor still needs to be flat for tile--

To avoid the threshold problem and cover the ugly dirty white tile install linoleum . It is available mirroring tile so close the kids will never know the difference . It's an easy keeper right next to Formica counters . Let the Jones family do their own thing .

Why are you not just removing the tile, leveling the floor, then adding new flooring?
I agree laminite is not a good idea in any bathroom.
One leak or spill over from the tub and it's trashed, plus it would be compressed tight to the floor around the toilet so it has no way to float, which can case the seams to pull open.

First thing 1 1/2" drop in a small bathroom is pretty severe so the first thing I would do is find out why it dropped that much. After that and possible repair you may have more options in your flooring choice.

I am with toolseeker on this one, 1.5" is a lot, but also because it is at the doorway.
I would understand better if was at exterior wall and foundation settled.
I imagine your bathroom is at least 8' from doorway to exterior wall, there is a structural issue going on underneath.
Adding the weight of 1.5" of concrete floor leveller will only make it worse.
First step is to get a carpenter under their and find out what is going on, figure out best repair to at least stop it from getting worse.

Laminate flooring in a bathroom is a poor choice.
