Completely remove vinyl adhesive before tile?
I'm looking for some advice..
I'm ripping up my old vinyl floor to lay tile, and I'm wondering how diligent I should be in removing some of the remaining adhesive.
I've removed most of it to bare concrete, yet some adhesive remains, it's not very big sections and it's not very raised...but it's there...
I should add some clarification, that the adhesive seems to have some of the vinyl backing on it...
The paper definitely has to come up. The adhesive should really be razored down until it's just residue IN the subfloor, not on top of it. Modified thinsets and patches will bond to the old adhesive but the more film you have left on the surface the higher the chance of problems occurring.
