Question

Is Commercial Carpet Good For DIY?

Is laying commercial carpet, like the gray colored one at Home Depot a suitable DIY job?

I haven't laid any carpet before. I've put down linoleum successfully.

The plan is to not use a pad.

Do the moldings have to be removed and replaced or is the carpet cut up to the existing moldings?

Any other things to do or watch out for?

Are you planning to: glue it down, or loose lay?

Is Commercial Carpet Good For DIY?

Hi,
There was a commercial carpet there before that I just ripped up and it was just tacked down around the perimeter right from the top. I never noticed the tacks before I pulled it up so that seemed to work OK. I could glue it if that's a good way to go. I don't know if loose lay is a good idea.

glue down would be the easiest using less tools.
but seams can still be rough....but still easier.

Loose-lay will wrinkle.
