coloring ceramic tile flooring

I have a ceramic tile floor in a bathroom which is in great shape but I don't like the color. It is a light grey and I would like something darker with a brown tone. Other than ripping it out and replacing it with something else is there anything I can do to change the color. Would applying concrete stain work if I roughed up the surface of the tile? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I really don't want to demolish my floor.
