Sub flooring for vinyl planks
Do you have to let plywood sub flooring acclimate before installing it as a sub floor ? The plywood was kept outside in 15 degree temps for a week or so. If so, how long ?
I am installing vinyl planks over it and have to wait 48 hours for the vinyl to acclimate. |
Yes it does. I can say this with certainty as I had an indepedent inspector deny a claim because the subfloor was not acclimated. The seams all telegraphed through the vinyl even ater a good sanding.
24 hours should be fine edited to add : Its best if you can lay it flat so it doesnt warp on you |
Outdoors? Where and for how long? I would suggest a much longer period of acclimation. Even though plywood expands and contracts little, what you don't want to see is gapping of the vinyl planks weeks or months later aftert the installation. It's possible.

And pay attention to the writing on the plywood. It usually says minumum 1/8 gap between sheets, or similar.
