cleaning floor after carpet removal

I just pulled up a carpet for the first time, wasn't sure what to expect. Well, the floor is a pretty clean chipboard subfloor. But there is some kind of thin paper all over the floor, not uniformly, but in large patches. It is papery on the down side and like a thin layer of foam rubber on the up side. It peels off easily enough, but given the size of the room, it could take a lot of hours to remove. Is there a tool for removing this stuff? I'm thinking about something like a wallpaper removal brush. The floor was nice and dry, so I'd prefer not to use a liquid solution. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

If it's stuck--a long handled steel scraper is the usual tool---available in the flooring department of most stores----

It looks like you're not covered for an insurance claim for wear and tear. However, if any sudden and accidental damage occurred to the flooring while you were removing your carpeting, you would be able to put a claim in. If this happened, get a public adjuster...

yeah, I did end up buying that long handle steel scraper. It worked pretty well. One problem with it is as I was using it, the nuts kept loosening off the bolts. Also, I went back over the floor with the gum scraper and a razor blade to get the lower-profile staples, nails, bumps, etc. before I put the floor down. Thanks for the answers all.
