chronic wet floor

the first floor of my house is a cement pad with carpeting. there are two places where the carpet gets wet for no apparent reason. there's not dripping from the ceiling, no water stains, nothing. just two wet spots.

these spots tend to dry up and will be gone for a few days and then, seemingly out of nowhere re-appear and stay wet for days.

one is by the entrance to the kitchen and the other is by the entrance to the bathroom. this would lead me to believe that it's a plumbing issue, but they're both about 6-9 inches away from the doors, it's an intermittant problem, and, like i said, it's a cement pad.

it started off as only being by the kitchen, and then two days ago one appeared by the bathroom. they are two distinct spot, not one large one.

Does ANYONE have ANY idea what this could be?

(and i do know that it's water. no odor, no color)

Could be wicking up through the concrete pad. Does it happen when it rains?

it hasn't rained here (columbus) for at least a week and a half as far as i can remember. oh, also, it's not near any outside walls. it's almost exactly in the center of the house.

It does not have to be near an outside wall for water from outside or under the slab to wick up. It could also be a water supply pipe, or a water line from a hydronic heating system.

Put your Sherloc Holmes hat on.

Do you have a dog? Mine is very good at keeping herself clean but sometimes drools in the process. Took me forever to figure out where the water was coming from and I thought I was losing my mind.
