Ceramic vs porcelain

I have never attempted laying tile. I read alot about it and decided on using porcelain. A friend told me it is hard to cut. Is this a problem with porcelain?

Ceramic vs porcelain

First, understand that porcelain tile IS ceramic tile. The recipe used to make it is slightly different from what is used to make standard ceramic tile.

Porcelain has a greater density (therefore less absorbency) than standard ceramic (basically) and is therefore somewhat harder to cut.

The same saw (blade) or tile-breaker that you use for ceramic will in most cases (not all) also cut porcelain.
