Ceramic tile vs Glueless Laminate
When all is said and done.. Which product is less expensive for the DIY guy to install?
The house was built in 2004, 3/4" t&g plywood under the existing carpet. Adding this incase special padding or whatever is needed under either product. I assume ceramic tile can be installed right over the plywood but i really have no idea. Thanks in advance |
laminate will be overall more affordable and easier to install.
Less materials needed for install on lam. Ceramic may be able to be installed over ply only if the total thickness is 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 of an inch. Then you will still need a recommended membrane. Plus the tile, thinset, grout and the fact it will require a tile cutter. |
Thanks. I was leaning towards the laminate because it looks like less for me to screw up.
