Ceramic Tile Staining Over Radiant Floor Heating?!
Hi folks,
I'm a co-owner of a flooring store and I ran into an issue I'd never heard of. Wonder if any of you have any ideas as to the problem. Here is the issue: My customer installed a Single Fired Ceramic (not porcelain) tile floor in his basement over radiant floor heating 11 years ago. About 3 years ago he noticed that one of those tiles had a fleck of discolouration, now that discolouration has spread to another tile. My suspicion is that he has a leak in the heating system that has caused a moisture issue from beneath the tile (because it seems to be spreading.) But that's all I can think of. I suggested he "rough" up the grout a little bit to see if it seems moist and that might help determine if that's the issue. Any ideas, or has anyone ever seen this type of issue? Thanks in advance! |
do an air or water pressure test to see if it holds

moisture
I would guess it probably is moisture issue as well. What I would do is call a couple of the tile company technical support 1-800 numbers...like Dal tile etcc....tell them the problem and see what they suggest. There is allot of new products out there every day that make for simple solutions.....good luck
