Ceramic Tile: Mixed Sizes

We're laying our bathroom floor and using tile of mixed sizes. (12, 6, & 4 inch). Do I use the trowel for the largest size of tile? Or some other size?
Thanks.

Ceramic Tile: Mixed Sizes

Use the trowel for the largest size--mix the mud so that it is just a bit stiff--this will help prevent the smaller tiles from sinking below the level of the larger tiles.--Mike--
