Ceramic tile around a basement pole

I am tiling around a bar I installed in my basement. I probably should have planned my job around the pole, but I thought it would be more important to have full tiles on the outer edges. Of course, the pole lands right in the middle of a tile. I'm installing in a diamond pattern (if that matters). Any ideas on the cleanest way to install around the pole? I would like to minimize the unsightly cracks, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I think the only option you have is to cut the tile in two pieces. I would cut it so the seam passes through the middle of the pole and plan on a narrow grout line. Then cut out the two half circles.

You could also get some small decorative tile (mosaics maybe) and use them around the pole instead of the one piece of your field tile.

You will need to cut the tile---That's called a 'Dutch Man' ---don't try to hard to disguise the cut--it needs grout--Just plan its placement so that it looks good with the tile---
