Caulk over grout?

Fulan Newbie   Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 1	Caulk over grout? Hi there, I'm trying to seal the wall joints in our shower where there currently is grout. I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to remove all the grout in the joints before putting in the caulk? Or could I just put the caulk over the grout? Thanks, fulan

You will get a much better job, not only asthetically , but as far as sealing, by taking the time to remove the old grout now. Or you can remove the old grout 6 months from now when the new caulking fails. Sorry, I just couldn't pass the chance to be a smart ass.
