Carpet to Laminate Floor Transition

Our house was broken into and the carpet is trashed. We will be installing laminate flooring in it's place. The carpet being replaced is in our living room and it extends into our master bedroom. The laminate will stop at the entrance to our bedroom and the bedroom will remain carpeted. I know I will need to add an endcap for the transition from laminate to carpet but how far back do I need to cut the carpet at the door? What do I need to do to keep the carpet secured at the door? Will I need to staple or add a tack strip?

Picture is attached for reference. This is looking from the living room hallway into the master bedroom.

Thanks!
Jason

Transitions take place under the center of the door.

We'll let a carpet installer make more suggestions.

Put the transition track right under the door. Put a piece of tackstrip about 3/8" back from the track. Kick the carpet up, rub it down, trim and tuck in. Finish the laminate leaving a gap. Put the transition cap on and you are done. The cap will cover both edges and with the door closed you will only see whatever is on the floor of the room you are in.

Also consider engineered flooring instead.
Real wood, can be refinished, long lasting finish. does not look plastic like laminite, does not feel bouncy, not that much more expencive.
I can just walk into a house with laminite and know what it is, not so with engineered, it looks and is real wood just more stable.
