Carpet or Laminate?

My 11 year old carpet in my bedroom has finally bit the dust. My office chair someone caught it and ripped it open. No major loss as it was ready to be tossed.

I am looking to install either carpet or laminate. However each has it's pros and cons and it makes it hard to decide.

The Pro of carpet is that it's comfortable and makes the room "quieter".

However the con of carpeting is that my room is a dust magnet and I can vacum daily and pull up all kinds of dust.

Laminate flooring looks nice, but is costly. The laminate runs about $1 a sq/ft but you also have to install a pad which is not cheap.

The pro of laminate is that it's much easier to clean. I can just swiffer my room instead of vacuuming dust.

The con of laminate is that I've read it makes a room echo. I have a surround sound system, I don't want to make it sound like a cave in there.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Carpet or Laminate?

If you think $1.00 is expencive then your down to using paint to do anything cheaper.
If your ok with the plastic looking, hard and cold on the feet flooring then laminite is easy to install.
The laminites that you can pick up for that low a price will be harder to lay then a better grade, will not hold up as well, likly to come apart at the seams over time.
You get what you pay for.

Carpet or Laminate?

I would use carpet in a bedroom for a warm comfortable floor.
