Carpet installed on stair--coming loose---
My contractor installed the carpet on my basement stairs but it looks as if he didn't use a tackless strip. Or if he did carpet is not kicked in to grab it. I want to call him on it, he's been doing some shoddy work lately.
Do you have to use tackless strip on stairs or can you use glue? Shouldn't he of asked my preference? If carpet not attched to tackless strip will it eventually loosen from stairs, it looks like it's loosing now. How would it be fixed? |
Welcome,Trying---
I moved this and made it a new thread----your question is unique and needs its own place---Mike--- |
If it has pad under it, it needs tack strip. If not, it can be glued. Some installers just staple carpet over pad. That is not acceptable and won't last. It violates CRI installation standards.

Have to agree 100% with Rusty. It is easy enough to find out how it was done, just have the installer remove the carpet from the bottom step to show you how he installed it.
