Carpet Install expert advice needed

Thought I was being cute installing carpet in my whole house (alone). Big job, but glad I did it.
My only problem is with one major seam. It's 5 ft long between 2 rooms having the same carpet. It was my first seam and I did it completely wrong. Namely running the carpet iron backwards, thus getting nap between bottom of the carpet and the tape. I realized what I had done and took the seam apart and redid. Looked a lot better but not perfect like my latter seams are. So I took apart again and by doing this wrecked the edges so bad that stretching still wont give me enough material to get clean straight edges to join.
Question is what to do???
My thought is to take up one of the rooms and shift the carpet 3/4 in or so to give me material to get the clean straight edge I need. I can lose the 3/4 in on the other side as it's tucked under a heater and won't show.
or
Would it be better to make a roughly 5 in wide patch and put it between the doorway edges thus making 2 seams.
Hope someone can give me good advice. Thanks

Better to shift it than make a "saddle" seam.

Rusty, do you have to make shore the carpet nap is running the same way when you are seaming them together?

I agree with the other person who replied. Make sure that you are running the carpet the same way and that the nap lays the same way.
