Carpet to concrete floor transition

We had a water problem due to faulty roof design. During a power outage 5 years ago it caused a small flood in the basement. We had to rip up the carpet at the time and we have now repaired the problem completely and also put in a battery backup sump pump just in case.
We just replaced all the drywall due to mold and are ready to re-carpet the floor. My question is what is the best transition from carpet to concrete going into the utility room where the well water comes in and is treated; the only area where we still have to worry about leaks.
Our plan is to use an oak threshold at the doorway, then caulk the entire perimeter of the utility room where the wall meets the floor. That way if there ever is a small leak, any water would stop at the wall and have to flow into the French drain. It wouldn’t roll out the door under the new carpet.
Some have said I should use a granite threshold. Is that necessary? Does this sound like a reasonable precaution or is it overkill?

Cheap insurance I would call that---A water proof strip of some kind would give you some peace of mind.
