can someone please tell me more about carpet tile.
I am looking to do some upgrading in a 23 year old house. I also don't want to commit to one color choice for carpet throughout the entire house. I would like to do a locking hardwood floor in the kitchen and dining room but in the upstairs loft, hallways up and downstairs and in the 3 bedrooms and in the living room I would like to do carpet. I was thinking of maybe using tiled carpet to have some variation in the different styles and patterns but I am unsure of the ins and outs of tiled carpet. I just heard of it yesterday. Any suggestions?
Carpet tiles are meant for commercial application but they would work fine in a house. They won't be as comfortable underfoot. They glue directly to the floor, no pad like you use with regular carpet. They'll wear a lot longer and are easy to replace pieces of if you make a mess on the floor. They will cost a lot more than regular carpet though.
