can I lay carpet over adhesive from removed vinyl tiles

I had to pull up a lot of vinyl tiles in my basement over a concrete floor. (The previous owners alloed their dogs to go to the bathroom on the flooring and I am trying to get rid of the smell - planning on trying some vinegar and enzymatic treatments and then maybe painting with kilz). My question is do I need to get rid of all the leftover adhesive if I am going to have carpet placed over the concrete? Or can I just treat the areas that have sever odor issues. Can I paint right over the leftover adhesive with kilz or is that just a pointless adventure? If anyone has any better ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance

If you're talking about stretching-in carpet over pad, you'll have no problem. It can ride over all sorts of stuff.

Heck, gluing it down to Kilz shouldn't be a problem either.

yes i am going to carpet pad down first. so it can go over the adhesive without a problem. That would make this project so much easier.

can i paint with the kilz right over the adhesive?

Sorry for the delayed response... went camping.

You can carpet over small pets and hardly notice a lump.

Paint away to your satisfaction.
