Bouncy floor
My house is over a hundred years old we are coming to the end of a very big revolution. However the upstairs floor bouncy when you walk on them. It is in two areas near an internal wall that is each side of the stair case. What should I do about it?

Is the ceiling in the down stairs room open or the subfloor in the room above out?
If not then there's not much you can do. You have to be able to get to it to find out what's wrong and fix it. The things I have found when working on old houses is someone over the years has removed a supporting wall without taking the time to install some sort of header to replace it. Undersized floor joist with to long a span. Insect damage. |

Bouncy floor
The floor runs way from the wall the floor joists run in the opposite direction. All the sealings are new having been replaced 6 months ago as was the wall.
Should I now contact a builder? |

Yes--call the builder--ask if he has progress pictures of the structure before the drywall went up--

Sorry---the posters spelling 'revolution' made no sense I thought perhaps he meant remodel--
As new drywall on the ceiling was mentioned also--I figured the the 'builder' he was going to call was the same as the one that just finished up the 'revolution' and added the new drywall--- However,I'm wrong a lot of the time--so we will see.

So I don't get it... Did you do the revolution? or did you hire someone to do the revolution? Was the floor at all bouncy before the revolution? Sounds peculiar....
