BOSTITCH Hardwood Flooring Stapler

I rented a BOSTITCH Hardwood Flooring Stapler to install a 3/4" Birch hardwood flooring. I gave all the details about the wood and sub-floor to the guy at the store and he advised me to use a staples and a 90 psi pressure.
The staples never went all the way in the wood. The end of staple was sticking out about 1/3 rd inside the female groove. 75% of the time I had to use a chisel and chip the mail in order to fit them tight.
Is that normal? I need to know this before I continue.
Also do I have to redo that room?

Thanx

I would jack the pressure up by 10psi. If that does not work, return the stapler for a different one.

You're driving the staples in the female end of the tongue? The staple goes on top of the male tongue on an angle. Or did I read your post wrong?

The wall you're starting off of has the female tongue against it and then the male groove is facing out. So your hammer is riding against the male groove. Kick it in the groove with your foot then give the flooring a hit with the rubber hammer to get the gap tight then hit the stapler with the hammer. You'll get in the groove of it and it'll go quick.

If you did staple all that flooring through the female tongue then i'm not real sure how well it'll stay down. Obviously its not going to come up but you may get a lot of squeaking later on due to all those loose staples.

I'm sure no expert but I think you read it correct, wrong way.
