Blacktop on Garage Floor??

My wife and I have been looking at buying a new house and have found a few that are good, but a little small.

Recently we came across one house that is mostly perfect, except that it has a blacktop garage floor. I am fairly certain that the garage floor was an old concrete slab and probably was blacktopped over in order to make the slab look more presentable. It seems strange, but would this type of flooring cause other problems?

I am concerned about implications that the blacktop on the garage floor might have for the garage. I am also wondering if anyone knows how such a floor would hold up?

The main implication is that the asphalt will walk off on to your shoes and be tracked on your floors. This is a real problem that stains most light colored vinyl floors and carpets, of course.

If you like the house, you should consider removing it. I think it was a silly move who evers bright idea that was. I might also be dangerous, (if it's attached to your house), especially someday when you decide to apply a sealer/dressing on it. I bet there is a code against it?

There has to be an issue with fumes dissipating when sealing it. I'd hat to have asphalt enclosed in any way.

are you sure this is blacktop ? I have seen some stuff that is for garage floors( name escapes me at the moment) that looks a lot like blacktop but is really just a non slip painted on material.I only ask not to insult but because I have never heard of anyone blacktopping their garage floor
