Just did a complete remodel of my bathroom and decided to let a tile person handle the floor and tub surround. The tub surround came out good but the tile floor he laid had lots of low spots and was not level.
I removed the 1x2 tiles that were on a mesh and installed in modified thinset. The thinset has been scraped down but a thin layer still exists.
I want to level the floor and eliminate the low spots. Should I use a self leveling compound and will it adhere to the thinset that remains on the hardibacker board?
Also on one end of the bathroom the contractor poured self leveler but it was not enough and the floor still sloped so I want to add more in this area as well to get the floor level. The total Self levelling compound would be 1" with what was originally poured and what I would need to add to get it level.
Any professional advice would be appreciated....don't think the tile guy is coming back to make this right so I am on my own.
Thanks,
Tom
