Basement Flooring ...
hey everyone ...
I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on basement flooring ...
I'm finishing my basement, and am getting closer to having to finalize a flooring option.
I'm pretty handy and have installed ceramic tile, hardwood and laminate in the past ... although for the basement, I think we're going to pass on laminate - just don't like the way it looks. we were going to go with cork, but I find it looks just like laminate - was really disappointed.
so it looks like it's either hardwood or carpet ... (I'll definitely install tile in the basement hallway and bathroom).
was wondering what people's thoughts were on engineered hardwood in the basement. I'll definitely pass on solid wood, but been thinking a lot about engineered.
I guess part of the thing is, for me, engineered hardwood is cheaper ('cause I can install it myself), but I've never installed carpet before. so the price point actually makes carpet more expensive than hardwood ...
anyways ... anyone have any opinions on installing engineered hardwood in a basement? (below grade)? or does anyone else have any ideas on what else I can install?
below grade install of wood has been successful for years and years.
use a poly barrier pad and go to town!
