Basement Floor

I will be having carpet installed in the next couple of days. The old carpet pad was glued to the floor - there is a lot of residue still on the concrete. I have been trying to get it all up with a floor scraper, but it seems close to impossible. I intend to roll some water based concrete sealer before the new carpet is installed.

Does anyone here have any ideas on how to get the old glue off of the concrete?

Wire brush attachment on a hand held grinder? Use caution.

Hello,

Our basement had gotten ground water during the June floods, it was also carpeted. This year we took the carpet out and the same thing, some of the old backing stuck to the concrete. I went to our local rental business and rented a floor buffer machine, there are sanding screens that you can buy for this purpose.

My basement is 26 X 17 and i went through 2 screens, probably could have used one more for the final run. This worked great, now it can be painted or whatever you want to do.

Good luck,
Sellncars

Shovels are for more than just digging.

Grab a flat skinny shovel and go at it. I use them for scrapeing floors, and even walls when they're bad enough all the time. It's a tenth of the effort of a hand scraper and you get get a lot more power behind it.
