basement carpet or laminate

I recently had a foundation leak that ended up ruining part of my carpet in the basement...I also now see another wet spot away from the original leak...I'm thinking it would be better in the long run to put laminate wood down (low grade)in the basement instead of carpet in case I have yet a different foundation leak so I can just cut out portions of the laminate wood.......thoughts?

Bad plan----------The laminate is not easy to 'Cut out' and will become a mold mess.

Why not try your hand at ceramic tile? Properly set,it will tolerate getting soaked without damage.

Area rugs will keep your feet warm and can be remover for cleaning.--MIKE--
