Baseboard material question
Been looking to replace all my baseboards and I'm seeing they're made of solid wood, MDF type stuff and PVC. Is one better than the other for my needs and situation. This will be my first baseboard project. I have plaster walls and wood floors and I live in So. Cal. if this info helps. Thanks

Use real wood, it's cheaper if you buy it already primed in the contractors packs.
The cheap plastic stuff likes to melt when trying to cut it.
The MDF dents to easy and will be distroyed if it gets wet.

I second that---real wood----Poplar is very nice to work with----do check and see if you have a hardwood/millwork place near by---often they have nice profiles at the price of ordinary Big Box styles.

Also--buy the longest lengths that work for you---the fewer splices the better----

Learn how to cope your inside corners.
Better look, no gaps, seams will not open up later.
When you do have to splice two pieces together make sure to cut where they over lap at a 45 deg.
