base molding and carpet

doc70 Newbie   Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 1	base molding and carpet i didnt leave a gap between base molding and plywood floor when i installed the molding will this be a problem when carpet is installed?

bayoudonnie Newbie   Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Covington, LA. Posts: 10	base molding and carpet You should have left room for the carpet to be tucked under the baseboard. Normally 1/2". If berber carpet and heavy foam (8 pound) 3/4".

Typically 1/4-1/2 makes trimming in the carpet a little easier, but it is not nessecary. If you are having the carpet professionally installed it should pose no problem at all.
