Baking soda carpet odor

I Applied (2) 4 lb. boxes of Arm & Hamer Pure Baking Soda To remove odor from carpeting and padding, I lifted the carpet and applied to top of padding and bottom of carpeting then tried vaccuming after a few hours. Is it ok that some of the baking soda I left. Under the carpet .? By the way I have hardwood flooring that is in bad shape hence why it's carpeted..
Thank all

Baking soda carpet odor

Part of the reason that hard woods in bad shape is it's over a dirt floor.
Is there a vaper barrier on the ground in the crawl space.

Was there pets in the house?

Pull the carpet and padding back to see if there's pet stains and odor in the wood it's self. If so your going to have to seal it, may also have to toss and replace the padding at least.
