I just layed and grouted some ceramic tile for my Dad and need some input please.
1) The grout dried with a few spotty areas (dis-coloration). I think they may have gotten to much water on the fresh grout in areas during cleanup, as otherwise not sure why grout can dry spotty? I cleaned all the grout lines and dry mixed the grout bags before applying. It may just be the grout hasn't fully dried being less than 30hrs?
2) He also much prefers the darker look of the wet grout over the dried and finished product they chose (Cocoa).
Anyhow, can anyone recommend a sealer/stain? Otherwise, is "thisoldgrout" a good product and company? They would probably go with the Custom Bldg "Charcoil".
You can also have a bad bag of grout. The stuff has a shelf life. If you got it at a box store it could very well have been expired since they tend to not pay attention to this. We use the Aquamix (owned by Custom) epoxy grout dye. It recolors and seals against future staining. They now match the product to most major grout brand colors.
