Our townhouse is on a concrete slab. We want to install engineered hardwood floor, but to match the tile height of the kitchen and powder room, we need a thickness of 1" to 1.125".
Our floor has minor cracking from an earthquake in the 1980s. The floor installer is saying it is not really significant. They are recommending sealing the concrete and gluing the floor.
My question is: is it possible to resolve the height issue since the majority hardwood floor available is only 3/4" thick? I'd prefer not to need to use bulky transitions to change the height between wood and tile, maintaining a sleeker look.
