advise on finishing stairs

Hi all,

I bought some laminate and got a REALLY good deal on the price. The problem now is this....

The house is a split foyer and so after walking in the door you have to either go upstairs or downstairs. I had planned on putting laminate on the stairs also, but the stair nose will cost me almost as much as the flooring did.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could finish the stairs without costing a fortune but would look nice. I had thought of using the tile that I will be putting in the foyer, but am worried about them being slippery.

You can't really have it both ways.
If you want to use that nice laminent, you need to complete the job right, especially the trim.
