Abstract flooring...worth it or not?
This is my first post, and was hoping for some opinions...thanks in advance to anyone willing to contribute!

We own a small, 1400 sq ft single family home in NC that we are in the process of selecting a flooring option to replace carpet in the kitchen, dining room, living room and hallway. Our priorities are
1) appeal to potential buyers (hoping to sell in 2-3 years)
2) budget conscious
3) fits our taste

We are replacing carpet over plywood subfloor that has some imperfections due to sections of subfloor and joists being replaced. We were thinking that pre-finished, 3/4", T&G hardwood with a good underlayment (to take care of the imperfections and provide noise deadening) would suit our needs.

However, we've also explored some more abstract or "outside the box" ideas as well. Specifically, we were considering a copper penny floor which can be found here:

I assume this would require some type of additional covering or work on the subfloor to fix the imperfections, but I'm not sure about that part.

Any thoughts on how this type of flooring would help our ability to sell in the next few years, ease of installation on wood subfloor, or if the savings over hardwood would be worth it in the long run?

Although I think that flooring looks pretty cool, I don;t think it would be the best choice for appealing to the majority of potential buyers. I would go with a solid unfinished hardwood. Then when the sanding is done onsite it will help with the subfloor imperfections. Also, I feel that this would appeal to most buyers. Best of luck to you.
