2nd Story Bath addition
I would like to put a second bathroom upstairs in a portion of an existing bedroom. If I just put a shower unit in instead of a bathtub, would I still need to brace the flooring? The back part of the room where I would like to put the bathroom in is above an existing bedroom/closet.

Most homes have a flooring system that is strong enough for a tub or shower without bracing up the floor---

Tell us what you have-----one of us will know if it is strong enough without adding anything----

Thanks...I'm not sure what you mean by "what I have" but the floors are hardwood throughout the house.

Have you consulted a pumber yet to see what's going to be involved?
That would be far more likly to be the deal killer more then the floor.
