Question

1930's hardwood under tile?

I am purchasing a house that was likely built in the 30's. It has hardwoood floors throughout most of the house, except the foyer and adjacent dining room are tiled. There is a closet off the foyer that has hardwood in it. What are the chances that a homeowner in the 70's or 80's put down a mortar bed and hideous 4x6 "marble" looking ceramic tiles with dark grout on top of hardwood floors that I would be able to refinish if/when I remove the tile???
