18x18 travertine tiles with flat bottom

hey all, my father in law wants to install these travertine 1/4" slabs as tiles in the bathrooms. unlike most tile though, the bottoms of these slabs are not notched or grooved, they are flat. will this be a problem for a lasting installation?

That's how all stone tile is, just make sure you have 100% coverage and backbutter each tile with the flat side of the trowel as you set them.
