Here's my problem. The flooring manufacturer originally told me that they recommended using a Bostitch Mark III to install their stranded bamboo, but now they recommend a Powernail Flex 18 Gauge- and say that they recommend only 18-20 gauge cleats with the stranded bamboo. In looking around, other bamboo manufacturers say the same thing.
So- my trouble is that the tool rental places around here have the Bostitch, but I can't find an 18 Gauge nailer for rent anywhere.
Does anyone know if 15.5 gauge will actually damage the flooring? Or are they just being cautious? And does anyone know where I could find an 18 gauge floor nailer/stapler in the San Jose, CA area?
I would recommend contacting the manufacturer of the flooring. They have tested their flooring and would know what 15.5 gauge cleats would do. 18 Gauge nailers are usually not as readily available for rent as the standard 15.5 gauge nailers.
