1000sq ft of teak, do i remove base trim, saw door casing ??
Hi, I am getting ready to install a 5" solid finished teak and am trying to decide whether or not to remove the base board trim or just 1/4 round after install. I am not really sure how I would handle some of the trim work on the doors, stairs, bathroom etc. Is it easier to remove all the base trim on the entire main floor and reinstall it or trim/cutout for the jams etc? I have linked 4 pictures if you wouldn’t mind looking and giving me some feed back that would be great.

Thanks for all the feedback!

you can just add the 1/4" round but I would also prefer to remove the base trim instead. Use a jam saw to undercut around all door openings and slip the wood under the door jams.

Remove the trim and use the saw mentioned. When it comes time for the trim pu on, post pictures and ask again. There are plenty of trim guys around that'll help.

I will be removing the vinyl in the bathroom and kitchen so the baseboard height would be fine in those location. Is it recommended to remove the baseboard anyway for expansion? It seems that it may be more work but it is the right way to do it??

Another question: How do I cut the pressboard flooring out around the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom?

Thanks for the help.

you do need to allow for expansion along the perimeter. Remove the baseboard. Use the same saw (but the electric model) to cut under and around the cabinets. Rent one if you need to. If it is only luan you are removing you can score and cut with a sharp razor knife.
