1 inch oak floors
i have 1 inch oak floors in my house 1900 four square,my office and kitchen have vinyl covering i started to remove it has glue that is black and thick what is the best way to get this glue off so wood floors can be saved.

Lots and lots of elbow grease.
A razer scraper, floor scraper, sometimes a heat gun helps. Do not use any form of chemical stripper. |

1 inch oak floors
I used Goof Off to remove old linoleum in my bathroom once. It worked great and the product dried quick enough that the raw wood sub-floor didn't get soaked but 1) the smell was rough ( a bit dangerous probably ) and 2) it was the gray adhesive. Not sure about the black you mention so your results could be different if you chose to try this.
