Small originating Project.
The following is no big deal, but really it changed my life!
So, my wire garbage pail under the sink had its best days were behind it.
The plastic coated wire was starting to peel and look unsightly. Also,
the bags were hard to pull out when full as things from inside the bag
would catch on the wire and rip the bag
The head knot surprised me with a new one from Home Depot. It has a
great full extension slide, and a heavy duty lift out pail.
Then I said, do they have a mate for the cleaning products? So he goes
back to HD and brings home a great looking system with a wire basket
on full extension slides. However, it was 20" deep...and the copper tubing
for the DW kept the basket from sliding in all the way...
Because of the copper tubing, we only had a max of 16 1/2" deep
to work with.
Back to the drawing board, and Home Depot...We bought a set of
full extension slides, (16.99) then we went to Target and found a heavy duty
basket weave basket -- size 12 x 16!" (12.99)
It's always the little things that make me happy...It's such a pleasure to
have a good workable garbage pail under the sink, and the cleaning
products basket is wonderful, no more bending and getting frustrated looking for
stuff under the sink.
Stay tuned pics to follow...
First the garbage pail.
closed...now, I looked at my crummy wicker basket that holds my
cleaning stuff and was unhappy. :(
The head knot built a box and attached it to the slides, then
used two screws to attach the basket to the box.
In position, and ready to fill...
This is how it looks closed...
I know this is no big deal, but really it's now a pleasure
the way it works. I also like the fact that, I can just wipe out
a spill in the basket, where before a spill went through to
the cabinet bottom. Also, the ease of removing and replacing
the garbage went from "drudge to pleasure."
Did I ever show you guys the storage cabs we made to fit between
our basement stairwell 2x4's ?
oops ...I just noticed that I meant to say -- organizing project in the heading.
That is so nice! I'm really envious of your organization under the sink.
Can the cleaner basket come off it's frame? I use a caddy that holds all our cleaning products and I cart it around the house as I clean. But I have no where to store it since it's too tall and wide to fit in our cabinet so it just sits on our laundry room floor.
to remove it -- like if something really nasty spills in it, and I can't get it clean,
I'll have to unscrew the two screws. however, we have lots of plexi-glass,
I plan on cutting a piece so that I just have to remove the plexi-glass
for cleaning. You always put a smaller basket inside this basket that
you can pull up and out...the size of this basket is 12 x 16
I know it's not much, but as a woman you know--it will change your life!
